The Wrong In The Invisible Revolution
The last Microsoft propaganda is simply outrageous (http://news.microsoft.com/stories/invisible-revolution/). Common sense is laughed at, technology is (again!) a way of enslaving people individually and collectively to a trust-stealth game system. From the first lines, "all around", "objects", "play", "chances" and "gaming" define the philosophy proposed: the technology invasion is here, just trust the programs and the machines, and play.
But programs and machines are made by humans, and these humans seem to live far away from the present human dramas. No mention of social crises, refugees' flight from war and environmental pollution humanity is facing , nor of the industrialized assaults on nature (mainly provoked by the technological race). Technology "does not believe in tears"? (http://www.nytimes.com/2016/04/21/world/europe/500-may-have-died-in-sinking-of-migrant-boat-in-mediterranean-un-says) Why should we not accept this game? Because this is an unethical game, a game that ignores the distress of others. In 1762, Jean D'Alembert reminded Daniel Bernoulli that probabilities have their limits when everyone's life is at stake: "This is because I did not believe like him, that I have to establish big calculations on vague hypotheses, in a matter where in question is the life of men." Skeptical, he wrote in the article "Philosopher" of the "Encyclopedia": "The truth is not for the philosopher a mistress who corrupts his imagination, and that he believes to find everywhere; he is content with being able to unravel it where he can perceive it, he does not confound it at all with the verisimilitude; he takes for true what is true, for false what is false, for doubtful what is doubtful, and for verisimilar what isn't nothing but verisimilar. Their injustice, even invisible, is not acceptable. Their game philosophy is a hypothesis too vague, forgetful of the sensible human nature and offensive to the dignity of the suffering. The same science and technology must be used to solve the stringent problems of social and environmental administration.
